Cui Bai (active in the 11th century), a native of Haoliang (now Fengyang, Anhui), was selected as an artist in the Academy of Painting during the reign of Emperor Renzong of Song (1022-1063). He is good at painting flowers and birds, inheriting the foundation of Xu Xi and Huang Quan, and his brushwork is both professional and extensive, full of natural wild interest. The most representative works in the hospital collection are the “Double Happiness Picture”.
