During the Jian’an period of the Eastern Han Dynasty (196-229), Miao Ren Shouchun (now Shouxian County, Anhui Province) was the county magistrate. He was an honest and clean official. When he came to office, he only pulled a cart with a cow. In any year or more, his mother gave birth to calves. When Shi Miao left office, he only took the original cart with a cow. He refused to take the calves born in the local area. The people couldn’t bear to see him go and came to see him off. The picture in this volume is the scene of people seeing off. Qian Xuan (active in the second half of the 13th century) was a painter of adherents in the late Song Dynasty and early Yuan Dynasty. He was good at landscapes, flowers and birds, and his painting style was ancient and elegant. This painting was made in the 17th century.
