In this painting, there are many mountains and mists in the valley, which seems to describe the beginning of the mountain rain. Streams and gullies flow straight down, the path turns back and stretches to the pavilion in the mountain. The scenery is quiet and elegant. Although the style of this painting is Yan Wengui, its style is similar to that of the late Ming Dynasty. Yan Wengui (about the 11th century AD) was born in Wuxing, Zhejiang Province. He was once a peddler in the capital (Kaifeng, Henan) when he was young. Later, he was appreciated by Gao Yi, who was waiting for the imperial edict in the painting academy. The landscape and characters are good, especially good at depicting the scenery of the four seasons, elegant and lovely. The painting is called “Yan Family Scenery” in the painting academy.
