According to Ke Jiusi, a connoisseur of the Yuan Dynasty, this picture depicts the landscape of Lushan Mountain (south of Jiujiang County, Jiangxi Province). The mountains are towering and straight, forming huge gullies layer upon layer. Between mountains, the waterlogging space is expressed in depth and multi-level. The strokes of Cun Ran are short and round, and the rocks have a strong and ancient feeling. It is a masterpiece of early landscape painting. It is said that Jing Hao wrote it. Jing Hao (active in the first half of the 10th century AD), who was born in Qinshui, Henan Province, has the name Haoran. He lives in seclusion in Honggu, Taihang Mountain, Shanxi Province, and is known as “Hongguzi”. He is good at landscape painting, especially the method of using brush and the change of ink color.
