Comments:Wang Yuan often studied and revived elements past masters’ painting style. Once a painting was completed in China and went into circulation, it remained a ‘living object’ intended for like-minded gentlemen to add poetry or comments. This painting is inscribed by three scholars who were contemporaries of Wang Yuan. Now mounted as a hanging scroll, the image was originally painted on two pages of a hinged book of album leaves, as can be seen from the central fold.
