[Chen Shizeng’s Peach Blossom Painting Axis]
The “Peach Blossom Painting” axis, in modern times, is painted by Chen Shizeng in paper, with colors, 132.9 centimeters vertically and 33.5 centimeters horizontally
The caption on the top left of the painting reads, “Ever since I saw the peach blossom, I have never doubted it until now. Chen Hengke in the midsummer of Guihai.” The seal is “Chen Hengke’s seal.”. There is Yao Hua’s inscription at the place: “Yin Kun is suspected to be the ‘Yu’ character, belonging to the Buque, Yao Hua.” The seal “Yao Hua” is stamped
“Guihai” refers to the twelfth year of the Republic of China (1923)
In the lower left corner of the screen, there is another inscription by Zhou Dali: “Shi Zeng wrote this picture, but one word was wrong. He dug it out with his hand, and framed it with the back. He was suitable for the mother’s illness, and rushed to Jinling, but after the illness, he never returned. I don’t know what the sentence is, but he dug it out or wrote ‘Yu’. Over the past year, he passed it to his family, in order to remember it. Zhou Dali, the first son of Zhou, was born in September.” The seal was stamped with “Zhou Dali”
In the picture, the branches wither and the peach blossoms bloom. The pen is relatively dry, and there are many flying white spots in the ink, reflecting the rough texture of old trees. The flowers are directly dyed with pure colors, and the strokes are mellow and sophisticated.
