The bowl has an open mouth, curved walls, and circled feet. The blue and white calligraphy on the inside of the foot is in regular script with six characters, “Made in the reign of Emperor Xuantong of the Qing Dynasty.”. The inner light is plain without any patterns, and the outer wall is covered in red with the character “Happiness” written on the abdomen. The outer edge is painted with blue material with a Ruyi cloud head pattern around it
According to the “Report on the Investigation of Items in the Palace Museum” published by the Qing Dynasty Aftermath Committee in 1925, this bowl was placed in the body and hall of the Western Sixth Palace. After Pu Yi abdicated in 1911, the interim government of the Republic of China granted a series of preferential policies to the Qing court, enabling him to continue living within the palace ban. The Tihe Palace is also one of the palaces where he once lived. This bowl should be the daily necessities used by Pu Yi
