Gold Carved Flower Double Happiness Round Shou Character Tea Bowl, Tongzhi of the Qing Dynasty, caliber 9.6 cm, bottom diameter 5.2 cm, height 5.6 cm
The golden bowl is hammered into shape. The bowl belly is carved with geometric patterns, and the characters “Happiness” and “Shou” are decorated on the ground. The rim of the mouth and the foot are engraved with a circle of retrogradation, and the lower part of the abdomen near the foot is decorated with a circle of inverted lotus patterns. The inscription “In the 11th year of the Tongzhi reign, the weight was 724 coins and one cent” was engraved on the bottom of the vessel. The 11th year of Tongzhi in the Qing Dynasty was 1872

This bowl is a wedding item for the Tongzhi Emperor. “In the Qing Dynasty, gold wares were often engraved with the model year, weight, and sometimes the stamp of the manufacturer.”.
