Colored lacquer inlaid with copper movable drum type dial clock, during the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty, has a total height of 63 centimeters, a face width of 37 centimeters, and a thickness of 16 centimeters
The wooden clock shell is painted with black paint, and the painted ground is painted with scroll grass patterns. The clock frame, edges and corners are wrapped with bronze plated gods and rolled grass patterns. Below the front of the bell, the two goddesses on the left and right each raise their hands to hold the clock dial, and there is a little angel between the two goddesses. The center of the clock dial is engraved with a copper plated scroll grass pattern, and the periphery is inlaid with a white ground blue digital enamel dial for one week, which is larger than the digital dial drum on ordinary clocks and watches. On the upper half of the clock dial, there is a “Qianlong Year Made” four-character model at the opening, and on the lower half, there are two string holes. From the shape of the clock and the copper decoration embedded in it, it can be judged that it was assembled by adding a bell plate and components to the shell of a European clock used by the Qing Palace’s clock making office. In the work files of the clock making office, it is common for the Emperor Qianlong to instruct the bell shell to be equipped with bell rang. In addition to adding a bell plate and bell rang, this clock also has a colored scroll grass pattern painted on the black paint of the original clock shell.
