Hongli Summer Resort Yanyu Tower Scroll

[Hongli Mountain Resort Yanyu Tower Map Volume]

“Summer Resort Yanyu Tower Map” volume, Qianlong Emperor of the Qing Dynasty, Hongli Painting, paper version, ink pen, 38.7 cm in length, 99.2 cm in width
On the upper right of the screen is the title of the picture titled “Misty Rain Tower of Summer Resort” by Emperor Qianlong. Seal “Five Blessings and Five Dynasties Hall Ancient and Rare Treasure of Heaven”. The seal “Yanyu Lou Bao” is also stamped on the front water barrier, indicating the location of the map
The Yanyu Building of Summer Resort is modeled after the Yanyu Building of Nanhu Lake in Jiaxing, Zhejiang Province. The pavilions are built along the water, with a rich Jiangnan charm. The main building is located in the north, with two floors and five rooms. Upstairs, the porch windows reach into the cave, and the corridors connect with each other. Climbing upstairs, you can view the lake scenery and overlook the distant mountains. This painting of Emperor Qianlong’s imperial brush depicts a scene of misty clouds and heavy rain with ink freehand brushwork. It not only depicts the real scene, but also highlights the poetic meaning of the name of the “misty rain” building. According to the caption on the picture, Emperor Qianlong painted more than one painting with the title of Yanyu Tower. Some of them focused on ink and brush, while others focused on landscape painting, which was different. This painting is his masterpiece, and I have recorded the poems and writings of the Yanyu Tower made over the years
