The bottle mouth is slightly skimmed, with a short neck, full shoulders, gradually narrowing below the shoulders, and rounded feet. The shoulders are embossed with three sheep’s heads. Imitation Ru glaze is applied throughout the body. On the outsole, there are six characters and three lines in blue and white seal script “made in the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty”
The imitation of the five famous kilns of the Song Dynasty became popular in the Ming Dynasty. The imitation of Ru kiln porcelain was the most realistic in the Qing, Yongzheng, and Qianlong dynasties. Among the artifacts handed down from ancient times, most of the imitations of Ru ware during the Qianlong period were fired in imitation of the glaze color, and the shapes were mostly popular in the current dynasty. This utensil is decorated with three sheep, as the “sheep” and “yang” are homophonic, implying that “three yang bring prosperity” and indicating good luck.
