Suichu Hall Printing Paper Screen, Qianlong, Qing Dynasty, 198.9 cm long and 49.8 cm wide
The rice paper is brown yellow with a white landscape pattern printed on it. The paper is mounted on a double-sided gray white dark patterned silk based on hard white paper. There are four pieces of this product, which can be combined into a set of “four fan screens”. Each piece has the same specifications, color, and quality. It can be either separately drawn or connected in series to form a large and complete landscape map. This kind of continuous view map is known as the “sea mantle” or “through view screen” by the ancients. In the upper right corner of the third picture, there is a Xuan paper strip with a vermilion seal character “Suichu Tang Chu Shi Ji in the seventh year of the fiftieth year of Qianlong’s reign (1792)” and 13 characters on it.
