The rim of the dish is in the shape of an eight petal sunflower, and the entire body is painted in red, yellow, green, and red. The center of the disk is shaped and illuminated, with a yellow lacquer scroll with the character “Swastika” carved on the ground, and a red lacquer double hook with the character “Fu” carved on the ground. Among the strokes are auspicious patterns such as colored pine, bamboo, plum, old and cold friends, lotus flowers, and miscellaneous treasures
The inner wall of the plate is decorated with a shaped octagonal light, and the open light is carved with a single line of back brocade and water brocade as the ground, respectively, with colored patterns of two phoenixes, two dragons, four cranes, and auspicious clouds. The outer wall is carved with floral patterns of broken branches. The bottom is painted with black paint, and there are regular script patterns engraved with knives and filled with gold “made in the reign of Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty” and famous patterns of “dragon and phoenix set blessing plates”, which are the standard style during the reign of Emperor Qianlong
The decorative style and theme of this utensil are modeled on the carved lacquer style of the Jiajing period of the Ming Dynasty. Emperor Qianlong was particularly fond of Jiajing carved lacquer, so there were many imitations, but there were also innovations and breakthroughs, especially in the carving techniques compared to Jiajing carved lacquer
