Wang Zhicheng Qianlong Archery Screen

[Wang Zhicheng Qianlong Archery Picture Screen]

The “Qianlong Archery Picture” screen, painted by Wang Zhicheng during the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty, paper edition, oil painting, vertical 95cm, horizontal 213.7cm
The picture depicts the scene of Emperor Qianlong and his entourage shooting arrows at Ma Dai in the Summer Resort. The characters are vivid and the scene is realistic. In the background of the painting, there is a stream flowing through, and the courtyard wall is shaded by stacked mountains and stones. In a close shot, you can see a rich autumn color. Shimadai is located on the west side of Wanshu Garden, with a wide and flat land, sparse trees, and a grassland scenery
There is no signature from the author on the screen, and it is believed that it was written by the French missionary painter Wang Zhicheng (refer to the article “On the Qianlong Archery Oil Painting Screen” by Yang Boda in the 1991 issue 1 of the Journal of the Palace Museum). After the completion of this picture, it was hung in the Ruyizhou Double Pine Book House of the Summer Resort
