The box is made of wood, with a red paint painted with gold and a lotus pattern on the outside. The box is in the shape of a pot, divided into two layers, respectively storing Buddhist relics. The yellow bar inside the box reads: “On November 15th of the thirty eighth year of Qianlong’s reign, two Buddhist relics were collected from the Dalai Lama for the benefit of the Lantern Buddha; on October 28th of the forty year of Qianlong’s reign, two Buddhist relics were collected from the Dalai Lama for the benefit of the Kasyapa Buddha.” The Dalai Lama here refers to the eighth Dalai Lama.
