The Sanxi Hall is located in the Xici Room of the West Warm Pavilion of the Yangxin Hall, and is a famous collection of ancient art works in the Qing Dynasty Palace. Three rare treasures in the history of Chinese calligraphy, namely, Wang Xizhi’s “Clear During the Fast Snow”, Wang Xianzhi’s “Mid Autumn”, and Wang Xun’s “Boyuan”, passed down for thousands of years and were collected by the internal government in the early years of Qianlong. In the 11th year of Qianlong’s reign (1746), Emperor Qianlong specially created a small room in the West Warm Pavilion of the Heart Nourishing Hall to collect these three Buddhist scriptures, named “Sanxi Hall”. Although the Sanxi Hall is only four square meters long, its furnishings are elegant and primitive. Elegance and refinement always permeate this narrow space, emitting a strong scholarly atmosphere. The Sanxi Hall began in the Qianlong Dynasty, and has remained unchanged in the following dynasties: Jiaqing, Daoguang, Xianfeng, Tongzhi, Guangxu, and Xuantong
