Ornamental Vein Flower Gu

[Beast Face Pattern Flower Gu]

Beast Face Pattern Flower Gu, mid Qing Dynasty, height 27.9 cm, caliber 15.7 cm
The goblet and bell mouth have a slender body and rounded feet. The neck, abdomen, and feet are all landscaped with thunder patterns. The neck is decorated with banana leaf patterns, and the abdomen and circular feet are decorated with different forms of animal face patterns. The animal face is decorated with leaf ridges in the center and on both sides. The inside of the device penetrates from top to bottom
The bronze Gu of the Shang and Zhou dynasties was a drinking utensil, and although its appearance was similar to it, it was not fitted with a bottom, indicating that it was not a practical utensil and was only for display and viewing. The decoration of this Gu differs greatly from the style of the bronze Gu of the Shang and Zhou dynasties, with relatively loose thunder patterns and patterned animal face patterns, which have typical Qing court artistic characteristics.
