Secret Buddha – Dense Self-contained Thangka, 18th century, Tibet, cloth, color, 122 cm high, 76 cm wide, 64 cm vertical and 44 cm horizontal. The old collection of the Qing Palace
The name of the book in this painting is Dense World Freedom, a single red body with three sides and six arms, three sides of blue, red and white, and the red side is the main one. The six arms are bent or stretched, and each holds the Dharma object. The right hand holds flowers, pestles and wheels respectively, and the left hand holds Mani, sword and diamond bell respectively. This Buddha is seated with his hands crossed and bears the red lotus flower platform. The upper left corner of the picture is painted with the body of Piva Tathagata, and the upper right corner is painted with the name of Good Luck Tathagata. The lower right corner of the picture is painted with the body of the Brahman, the auspicious parent, with Tibetan inscriptions
There is a white silk label on the back of the Thangka, with an inscription in four-body Chinese, Manchu, Mongolian and Tibetan characters on the ink. The Chinese text reads: “On the seventh day of August in the forty-fifth year of Qianlong’s reign, Panchen Erdeni entered the Danshuk to worship the benefit portrait of the Yangti Secret Buddha…… Second from the left”.
