According to Yu’s own inscription, he completed the portrait at the request of the portrait owner, with the image of the poem “The clear pool last month, suitable for my chest and opportunity” in the poem “Tokyo to Wanchu” by Li Qi of the Tang Dynasty as the background. The bright moon on the picture is clear and the water flow is slow. The quiet and serene environment created appropriately reflects the indifferent and tranquil attitude of the image owner.
