This portrait depicts Yin Zhen (Prince Yong) sitting in the Langyin Pavilion, surrounded by deer, cranes and Jiamu, in a quiet and elegant environment. From the age of the characters in the painting, Zhenyin seems to be the prince at this time. The painting style is meticulous, neat, bright and decorative. This is one of the few portraits of Yongzheng’s reign as the emperor
Langyin Pavilion is located in the Yuanmingyuan, where Yinzhen often lived when he was the prince. According to Hongli’s annotation in his “Poems of Langyin Pavilion”, “the name of the pavilion is still the same as that of the emperor when he examined the hidden residence.” Yin Zhen’s “Poems on the Legends of Langyin Pavilion in Autumn” said: “The misty remote peak with evening twilight, the clear light can be seen in the middle of the sky. The bridge moves when the rainbow is lying on the river, and the wind and cicada sound can be heard across the bank. A number of sunset clouds, three chrysanthemums, a pool of autumn water and half bed clouds. The pavilion sings only after the summer vacation, and then listens to the golden wind to send off the wild geese.” vividly depicts the poetic scene around the pavilion.
