This is Yun’s painting from life. The composition of the picture is simple, and there is no difference between far, middle and close view. It only draws a corner of the green mountain garden pool: polygonum, green bamboo and lake stone create a classic and peaceful artistic conception, and the pleasant attitude of several fish adds some vitality and interest to the whole picture. Yun Shouping once said in the “Postscript to the Supplement to the Collection of Ouxiang Pavilion Painting”: “It is still not perfect to learn from the ancients, so we must learn from the nature. The common people are extremely beautiful and elegant.” This picture reflects his aesthetic idea of learning from nature more than traditional painting. In terms of performance techniques, Yun Shouping adopted the “boneless” style of painting that he created from the ancient to the new, that is, he did not use a pen to draw the outline of the object image, but made it with color dots. The leaves of bamboo, reed, polygonum and algae are painted with different shades of cyan, light ochre, light red, etc. Each leaf is painted with one stroke, lacking the binding of contour lines, and the image is more vivid and swaying. The main tone of the lake stone is light blue, and a lot of water is used to halo the color. There is no dry pen to draw the line, and the dry pen is chapped. Although the lake stone has lost the hard texture of the stone body, its exquisite and delicate beauty of beauty is multiplied.
