Fengxijue bamboo carving Chinese cabbage pen holder

[Fengxijue Bamboo Carved Cabbage Penholder]

Bamboo Carved Cabbage Penholder, made by Fengxijue in the Qing Dynasty, is 17.3 cm high, 9.4 cm in diameter and 9.2 cm in bottom diameter
The pen holder is in the shape of Chinese cabbage. The wall of the pen is carved with 4 pieces of vegetable leaves. If the vegetable heart is gouged out, the inner wall has removed spiral knots. The veins of the vegetable leaves are clear, the knife marks are like, and the edges are rolled freely. Flat bottom, nearly round, carved into the shape of roots overflowing soil surface. On the outsole, there is a three-character round print of “Fengxi Jue” in yin
The diameter of the pen holder near the bottom is smaller, and the diameter of the pen holder near the mouth is slightly lower, which not only conforms to the natural shape of Chinese cabbage, but also takes into account the practical function of the pen holder. The overall grinding is fine, and the knife method is deep and stable. The sabre technique seems a little too simple, but it inadvertently shows the natural and vivid state of things. This is a work with good viewing and practicality
Xi Jue is a famous bamboo carver, and his works are rare in the world. From this Chinese cabbage pen holder, we can see a little of his carving attainments.
