[Huang Bingxun’s wood-carved Dharma]
Huang Bingxun’s wood-carved Dharma is clear, 21.7 cm high and 7.2 cm wide
This Dharma is dressed in cassocks, bareheaded and barefooted. He holds the ball with both hands, pulls the corner of his clothes with his head slightly, and his eyes are bright. Like the seal script of “Putian Huang Bingxun” carved on the back
Dharma, also known as Dharma, is the abbreviation of “Bodhi Dharma” and the founder of Chinese Buddhist Zen. It is said that he was a native of South Tianzhu, who sailed from ancient India to Guangzhou in the Southern Song Dynasty, and then transferred to the capital of the Southern Dynasty. Because he did not meet with Emperor Liang Wu, he crossed the river north, first to Luoyang, and then to the Shaolin Temple in Song Mountain. “Sitting on the wall for nine years and remaining silent all day”, finally established Zen and became the first ancestor of Chinese Zen. Due to the unique respect of Zen in later generations, the image of Dharma has also become a god respected by both monks and laymen
