[The statue of the mother of Baijiudu Buddha]
The statue of the mother of Baijiudu Buddha is clear and bronze, with a height of 72 cm. The old collection of the Qing Palace
The Bodhisattva Baijiudu is one of the “21 Taras”, which is said to be incarnated by the Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva. Its image is usually one head and two arms, sitting with two legs, and seven eyes on the face, hands and feet. Therefore, it is also called the “Seven Eye Buddha Mother”, which means that it can see all the suffering in the world and save it. Therefore, it is deeply believed in the Tibetan Buddhist female gods. White Tara is also known as “Three Longevity” together with Honorable Buddha Mother and Infinite Life Buddha, which means good luck, so its image is widely painted
This statue of white Tara is cast in bronze. It looks like wearing a five-leaf Buddha crown, with long eyebrows, a pretty nose, slightly pursed lips, and a gentle and beautiful appearance. The left hand holds the lotus branch, the right hand holds the vow seal, and sits on the triangular lotus platform with the full width of the lotus. The upper and lower edges of the lotus platform are decorated with bead patterns, and the lotus petals are neat. The statue is decorated with a lotus branch on the left and right shoulders, and the necklace, arm bracelet and wreath on the chest are finely processed and full of beads. Turn the upper body slightly, head slightly to the right, and body movement is strong. The upper body is naked, the chest is plump, the waist and limbs are gathered, and the abdominal muscles are undulating naturally, which is deeply characterized by the Nepalese statue’s attention to human performance. It is draped with silk at an oblique angle, with a skirt at the lower body and a rope skirt pleat. The silk and skirt pleats are engraved with flowers and grass patterns, and inlaid with gemstones, gold and silver for decoration. With exquisite materials, dignified and beautiful shapes, and exquisite casting and inlaying techniques, the whole image should be a Nepalese-Tibetan style statue made by the Qing court.
