[Ding Yicheng Tiebao Image Axis]

Tiebao Image Axis, Qing Dynasty, Ding Yicheng’s painting, paper, color, 126.7 cm vertical, 67.4 cm horizontal
In the lower left corner of the screen, the author signed: “Written by Ding Yicheng of Danyang.” The lower seal is “Ding Yicheng” and “Yimen”. In the middle of the right side: “Mr. Tiemeiweng, the grandfather, wrote his own music chart.” The seal was “Bao’s identification”. The middle title on the left side is: “My nephew Baoqi is treasured.” The lower seal is “Baoqing’s calligraphy and painting” and “Jin Wu’s late official”. At the upper part of the picture, there is a caption by Tie Bao himself, which reads: “I picked up a small picture of the passenger wheel platform in the middle of March at the end of the Geng Festival, and the title of the play is two sentences. Tie Qing.” Zuo Qian “Mei An”, “Tie Bao’s private seal”. “Gengwu” is the 15th year of Jiaqing in the Qing Dynasty (1810), when Tiebao was 58 years old. Luntai is in Xinjiang today. Although this figure is not necessarily a year, its lower limit can be confirmed
The picture depicts the seated figure of Tiebao, a famous calligrapher in the Qing Dynasty. Tie Bao wears a blue robe and black shoes, wears a crown and hat, and his left hand is naturally bent to form a twisted beard. His right arm is leaning on the table, and he holds an inkstone tile. His face is solemn and his eyes are divine. On the wooden table on the right side of the figure are two inkstone tiles and a sword
This painting still retains the traditional composition method of the Boschen school. It focuses on the characters and is properly matched with the scenery to set off the identity and character of the protagonist. The ink stone and sword in the picture are very appropriate to show the character of a Manchu official and calligrapher. In addition, the signature format of small regular script on the corners is also commonly used by Boschen painters, and is also a common format in ancient portraits.
