[Black silk embroidered butterfly with bamboo handle round fan]

Black silk embroidered butterfly with bamboo handle round fan, clear, 48.2cm long, 31cm wide. The old collection of the Qing Palace
The fan is in the shape of twelve sunflower petals. The fan is made of black silk and embroidered with folded branches of butterfly and chrysanthemum on both sides. The embroidery is like a picture. It stresses the virtuality and solidity, with clear layers. The composition is divided into left and right parts due to the fan bones. Its color is elegant and dignified. It doesn’t need to be red and purple. It only adds bright red on the butterfly wings to light up the picture. The embroidery surface is even and thin, the stitches are fine and dense, and the stitches are quite skilled. The lower part of the fan is provided with an ideographical protector. The front and back of the protector are respectively inlaid with tooth-dyed hollowed-out flower pieces and embroidered peach bat decorations. The handle of the fan is made of bamboo, the head and tail teeth are red, and the handle body is left with green flowers and lake stones. The process is also considerable.
