Drama in the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty was very prosperous. On November 25th of the 16th year of Qianlong’s reign (1751), the birth mother of Emperor Gaozong Hongli of the Qing Dynasty celebrated the 60th birthday of the empress dowager. Qianlong held a grand birthday celebration for this purpose. The civil and military officials gathered in Beijing. From Xihua Gate to Gaoliang Bridge outside Xizhi Gate, more than ten miles of roads were decorated with lights and colorful, and various literary and artistic programs such as opera, acrobatics, dance, and so on, were dazzling. The four volumes of the Longevity Map truly represent the scenes of celebrating the birthday and performing scenes at that time. It is an important image data of the opera in the Qing Dynasty.
