The back of the pen holder is carved with a young man holding a horse and holding a whip. The old man leaning on a stick beside him seems to be earnestly exhorting. The two pictures are continuous, expressing the theme of a decade-long cold window. Once you win, you can achieve success. In addition, there is an inscription inscribed in a running script in the shade: “The nine cities of the Longlou Fengge, the newly built sand embankment, the prime minister’s line. I honor you and I honor you. I was a scholar ten years ago.”
This device adopts the technique of shallow relief, and its shape, knife technique, pattern decoration and even details are typical of the ivory carving technology of the Ming Dynasty.
