This is closely related to the belief of the Jiajing Emperor Zhu Houyi in Taoism. Emperor Jiajing, in order to avert disasters and cure diseases and prolong his life, not only superstitious alchemists, but also particularly loved various auspicious objects, including pine, bamboo, plum and other decorative themes that implied longevity and auspiciousness, thus forming the decorative style of the artifacts in the Jiajing period.
