Copper Fish Basket Viewing Audiovisual Image, in the 24th year of Jiajing (1545) of the Ming Dynasty, is 42 cm high and 14.5 cm wide
Kwan Yin wears a right lapel on the upper body, wide sleeves, covered with silk, and a long skirt underneath. She stands upright on the lotus base with her bare feet. Hold a basket in your left hand. There is a fish in the basket. The look and clothing are similar to that of an ordinary woman. The inscription on the back of the lotus seat reads: “Made in December of the 24th year of Jiajing”
The fish basket Guanyin was originally called Malangfu, and later evolved into the image of lifting the fish basket in the folk. Song Lian of the Ming Dynasty said in the Praise of the Fish Basket Avalokitesvara: “There are beautiful women on the golden sand beach in Shaanyou. People are holding baskets to sell fish, and people are fighting for the house.” Empress Dowager Li, the mother of Emperor Wanli, painted the fish basket Avalokitesvara personally, and then spread it to the public. The fish basket Avalokitesvara became a common form of Avalokitesvara in the Ming and Qing dynasties, and was deeply loved by believers
