Three-color glazed Avalokitesvara

[Three-color glazed Avalokitesvara]

Three-color glazed Avalokitesvara, the 21st year of Chenghua in the Ming Dynasty (1485), 134 cm high and 68 cm wide
Avalokitesvara has a Buddha on the crown of his head, sits on his back, has a wreath on his chest, his hands folded, and a mountain shaped seat. The original Guanyin mount roared in front of the seat, but it was lost. The colored glaze is mainly green and yellow. The back is engraved with “The Meritorious Leader Hu □ Ming, Huang’s Miao □, the eldest man Hu Ying □, Hu Yinglin, Hu Yingshan, Hu Yingchao, the male woman Miao Guo, Miao Zhen, Miao Yuan, Miao Quan. It was made in July of the 21st year of Chenghua.” It can be seen from the vow that this is a family statue. Women all use the name of the Dharma, and mother-in-law and daughter-in-law all use the word “Miao”, which is worthy of attention.
