The belly is blue and white with white sea dragon veins. A vigorous and powerful white dragon roams in the boundless sea. The white dragon turns back to the song, with its hair fluttering, limbs stretched out, and is ready to come out. The blue and white waves are rolling up and down, surging, and there are black spots, which are overwhelming, splashing, and coming. During the Xuande period, there was a saying that “all materials are well prepared, and blue and white are precious”. The decoration process of this pot is to draw the outline of the dragon pattern and the details of the dragon’s eyes, crown hair, thick lips, teeth, paw toes, scales and other details on the porcelain body with a pointed tool, then paint the rough sea water with blue and white materials around the dragon body and apply transparent glaze, and then burn it in the kiln at high temperature
According to historical records, the blue and white flowers in Xuande were mostly made of “Su Ni Bo Qing” cobalt material brought back by Zheng He from the West. It was dark and bright, like sapphire. There was often a halo between the lines, like the ink halo of ink painting, and the scattered black spots made the picture produce an extraordinary artistic effect.
