Blue and white lotus bowl with eight auspicious patterns, Ming Xuande, 10.2 cm in height, 28.1 cm in diameter and 11.1 cm in foot diameter
The bowl is open, square lips and round feet. The white glaze in the bowl has no decoration. Blue and white decoration outside the bowl. The mouth is decorated with two layers of blue and white lines, the wall is decorated with eight patterns of lotus, the bottom is decorated with lotus petal patterns, and the foot wall is decorated with plum patterns. The six characters and one line of money in regular script “made in Xuande year of the Ming Dynasty” are written horizontally from right to left along the mouth
The grain decoration of this bowl is exquisite and smooth. “Eight Treasures” is one of the most common traditional decorative patterns in China, especially in the porcelain patterns of the Yuan Dynasty. However, the “eight treasures” of the Yuan Dynasty had many miscellaneous treasures, unlike the Ming Dynasty, which were basically composed of eight kinds: wheel, snail, lid, umbrella, flower, pot, fish and intestine.
