The signature of the fan: “The Royal Pen of the Hall of Wu Ying in the second year of Xuande”, stamped with “The Treasure of the Hall of Wu Ying”. The landscape figures painted on both sides of this fan are all about the scene of a young boy serving his side while a scholar cultivates his spirit in the mountains and forests. The brushwork, concise, fresh and lively, and bright and elegant colors are the rare works of Zhu Zhanji’s series of calligraphy and painting. Zhu Zhanji (1398-1435), the Xuande Emperor, was one of the emperors of the Ming Dynasty who had more achievements. He had an active personality and profound cultivation. During his reign, the court culture and art showed a prosperous appearance. His own cultural attainments are also very deep. He is good at poetry and painting.
