Wenzhengming Orchid Pavilion Scenery

[Wenzheng Ming Orchid Pavilion Scenery Painting Volume]

The Orchid Pavilion Scenery Painting Volume, the 21st year of Jiajing in the Ming Dynasty (1542), Wenzheng Ming painting, gold paper ground, color, 24.2 cm vertical, 60.1 cm horizontal
This picture shows the widely circulated literary legend “The Orchid Pavilion Xiuxi”. This painting by Wen Zhengming reflects the scene in the Preface to the Orchid Pavilion by Wang Xizhi of the Eastern Jin Dynasty. The picture shows the mountains, the streams winding, and many scholars sitting or lying on the banks of the stream, watching the wine cups sent by the gurgling streams in the mountains and waters, and thinking with great concentration. Wang Xizhi and other three people sitting opposite each other on the waterside pavilion are commenting on the finished poems. The trees are shaded, the bamboos are green, and the spring color is intoxicating
The Orchid Pavilion Scenery was painted by Wen Zhengming when he was 73 years old. The stone trees in the picture are first hooked and then dyed. They are exquisite and precise. The clothes and eyebrows of the characters are simple, and a few lines outline the elegant figure of the literati. The whole picture is bright and rich in color. The picture is mainly green, and the ochre color is used to render the slope stone at the foot of the mountain. It is thick and elegant, and beautiful and unique
The seal at the bottom of the volume is “Zheng Ming’s father’s seal” and “Zheng Zhong’s father’s seal”. The seal at the bottom right is “Xueping Xinjing” and “Du’s Tibetan painting”, and the seal at the bottom left is “and ancient restoration”. The first paragraph of the tail paper is the Preface to the Orchid Pavilion written by Wang Xizhi by Wen Zhengming, After that, there was a paragraph in Wen’s running script that said: “Zeng Jun said Qian, and called himself the Orchid Pavilion, and I wrote the” Flowing Cup Painting “for him, which is not only about the Xi Tie, but also about the orchid Fu. This poem expresses the meaning of its name, Ren Yin, in May.” “Yi Lan Pavilion, which inherits the pure fragrance, cherishes the ancient mountain shade. The high-pitched voice spreads the secluded valley calisthenics, and sees the Yonghe people again. The fragrance is born around the high light and the wind is far away, and the jade tree is beautiful and new. Why should the flowing cup be on the moon, and a curtain of fragrance (?) means four seasons of spring. Wen Zhengming”. Seal “Zheng Ming Seal” and “Wu Yan Room Seal”. It can be seen from this that since Zeng Qian’s name is the same as the place where the “Lanting Xiuxi” took place, Wen put this subject matter into the painting and wrote poems for it, which would be a gift to friends. There are also postscripts by Wang Guxiang, Lu Shidao, Xu Chu, Wen Peng, Wen Jia and Zhou Fujun on the tail paper. The year of Renyin was the 21st year of Jiajing in the Ming Dynasty (1542)
