The Painting of Bamboo Forest in Summer is Lu Zhi’s middle-aged work, which depicts the summer scenery in the south of the Yangtze River. Under the high pine and bamboo forest, a senior scholar sits with his front facing the stream, and a child is waiting for him. The realm is clear and quiet. The author uses pine, bamboo, stone and other lofty and refined things to praise the lofty and unyielding feelings and disdainful demeanor of scholars and doctors. In the picture, the method of texturing the rocks on the peaks and cliffs often uses thirsty and astringent strokes, which makes the rocks steep and sharp, with clear edges and corners. The strokes are simple, and the colors are clear and beautiful. It is one of the representative works of Lu Zhi’s blue-green color paintings.
