This small print is signed with the words “Zhao Zuo in the autumn of his own life”, and the two seals of “Zhao Zuo’s seal” and “Wendu’s” are stamped below. In the lower right corner, there is the seal “Songling Zhuliutang Collection”
The “self not” refers to the forty-seventh year of the Ming Wanli (1619)
This picture shows the scenery of lakes and mountains in late autumn, so it is also known as “The Painting of Autumn Forest”. The painting is as far as the mountain, the flat lake has no waves, the winding water is in a boat, the rustling jungle is reflected in the sunset, and the high people sit quietly in the cottages and fishing boats. The composition is based on Pingyuan, and the rocks are mostly covered with hemp, with strong strokes and light colors. It is Zhao Zuo’s masterpiece of landscape painting in his later years.
