This page is signed with the following words: “Wu Jun Qiu Ying’s real father’s copy”, with two seals of “real father” and “Shizhou”
This is a copy of Qiu Ying. After his middle age, Qiu Ying has lived in the house of Zhou Fenglai and Xiang Yuanbian, the great collectors, for nearly 20 years, and has been able to observe the famous sites of the Song and Yuan dynasties extensively, with profound ancient imitation skills. The volume of “Zhongxing Ruiying Painting” was painted by Xiao Zhao of the Southern Song Dynasty. It takes the various Ruiying legends of Zhao Gou, the Emperor Gaozong of the Song Dynasty, as the content, and is painted according to the eulogy written by Cao Xun in the compilation of “Ruiying Things”. It is a work that praises Zhao Gou’s reconstruction of the dynasty. The original work has 12 sections and was once hidden in Xiang Yuanbian’s house, so Qiu Ying got the opportunity to observe. This volume is composed of four paragraphs, with rough and vigorous strokes and fine colors. The proportion, image, style and details of the buildings in the drawing are extremely faithful to the original work, which represents the essence of Xiao Zhao’s painting, which can be described as “the next authentic work”. Some experts in the study of ancient architecture also believe that Qiu Ying’s pavilion paintings only performed well when he copied Song paintings, while his own creation was inferior.
