Liu Juexia Clouds and Rain Axis

[Liu Jue’s Cloud and Rain in Summer Axis]

The Cloud and Rain in Summer Axis, painted by Liu Jue in the Ming Dynasty, silk, ink brush, 165.7 cm vertically and 95 cm horizontally
The picture shows the deep mountains in summer, with mountains, dark clouds rolling, thatched houses looming, waterfalls falling straight down, pedestrians coming and going, and the artistic conception is deep and remote. There is no money in this picture, and it is stamped with the seal of “Liu Tingmei”
The layout of this picture is full, the mountains fill most of the picture, and the momentum is compelling. The mountains are almost all covered with long hemp, which increases the dynamic feeling of the picture. The thick cloud on the right is outlined with a fine brush and rendered in light ink, vividly depicting the rapid rolling and changing state of the clouds. The winding mountain, the winding mountain path, the overturned clouds, the flowing waterfalls, and the splashing waves all together create the momentum of turbulent clouds and heavy rain in the deep mountains. The wooden bridge in the lower right corner of the picture has the most static feeling. The parallel and straight lines and the corridors on both sides increase the stability of the bridge body, which further reflects the shock of the whole picture. The painting is dark and strong, and the ink is simple and moist. It is mainly imitated from Wuzhen in the Yuan Dynasty, and the principle of clear and beautiful strokes is different from that of Wuzhen
There is Shen Zhou’s inscription on the painting. The collection includes “Rongfeng Liu Shushen Play” Zhu Wenyin, “Bi Long Secret Collection” Bai Wenyin, “Xu Zhai Approval” Zhu Wenyin, etc
