Aihou Tie is Wang Meng’s only surviving piece of paper, which is very valuable. This letter is written to his official friend “De Chang Ping Fu”. The content is to recommend his friend Lin Jing (Zhao Mengfu’s grandchild), request to arrange a job for him, and introduce his “erudite and versatile” characteristics. De Chang, named Zhang Jing, was born in Jintan (now Zhenjiang). His father Zhang Jian and younger brother Zhang Shu had close contacts with Wang Meng and Ni Zan. In 1362, the 22nd year of the Zhizheng reign of the Yuan Dynasty (1362), Zhang Jing served as the magistrate of the Songjiang government. The letter was called “the judge of the government” in the book. It can be seen that this letter was written by Wang Meng after the 22nd year of the Zhizheng reign
This calligraphy imitates Zhao Mengfu. It not only has the scale of Zhao’s calligraphy, but also has a very similar structure. The strokes are smooth and the style is clear and elegant.
