[Jade lotus heron pattern hat top]
Jade lotus heron pattern hat top, yuan, 5 cm high, 4.3-4.7 cm bottom diameter. The old collection of the Qing Palace
The jade on the top of the furnace is white and partially black. The overall shape is approximately cylindrical, and the top is slightly thin. The carved lotus leaves and reed grass are twined, and the lotus leaves are huge and open. There are black tortoises crawling on a lotus leaf, spitting smoke clouds at the mouth, and there are lotus flowers beside it. Five egrets can be seen in the lotus and reed. There is a flat plate at the bottom of the device to show the water surface, and there are holes on it, which can be tied with knots
Lotus leaves, water plants, water birds, turtles and other patterns are very popular in the Song and Jin jades. There are tortoise nests and lotus leaf ornaments unearthed from the Southern Song Dynasty cellar in Guanghan, Sichuan, and jade ornaments of tortoise nests and lotus leaf ornaments unearthed from the tomb of Wogulun in the Jin Dynasty in Fengtai, Beijing, which belong to the same theme as this work. In addition, similar furnace tops decorated with lotus leaves and egrets were also unearthed in the tombs of the Yuan Dynasty in Shanghai. This shows that such works are widely used and popular for a long time, which has a great impact on later jade.
