The third layer of the lotus petal tip tilts outward, and the second layer and the third layer of the lotus petal are pasted with bodhi leaves for a week. The lower lotus is divided into two layers, with plump and plump petals. The feet are also covered with two layers of lotus petals
This is one of the four blue-glazed inverted lotus statues unearthed from the Fengshi Tombs of the Northern Wei Dynasty in Jingxian County, Hebei Province in 1948. Tall and magnificent. It combines decorative methods such as carving, carving, and stenciling, especially the abdomen, and is made by means of stacking plastic. The lotus petals are overlapped on the back. The veins of the leaves are clear and recognizable. The complete and plump posture of the lotus is perfectly displayed in the back. It is not only decorative, but also part of the body structure. It is not far-fetched, and it also avoids the practice of purely imitating nature. It is a successful work of decorative art
Buddhism prevailed during the Northern Dynasty. This inverted lotus statue uses Buddhist decorative themes such as flying sky, precious phase flower, bodhi leaf, lotus, etc., reflecting the influence of Buddhist art on northern ceramics
Similar lotus statues have also been unearthed in southern China, but the chemical composition of the body and glaze are quite different. This same era style shows the mutual exchange of ceramic art between the North and the South.
