[Pottery painted male figurines]
Pottery painted male figurines, the Northern Wei Dynasty, 37 cm high and 10 cm wide
The male figurines wear a small crown, straight nose, big ears, small mouth, and a smile on their face. They wear a wide-sleeved cardigan, and wear knee pants. They clasp their hands in front of their chest. This figurine is stamped on the front with a single mold, and the back is flat. This method of making pottery figurines was popular in the Wei, Jin and Southern and Northern Dynasties. Using single mode can save the tedious details in the production process, save time and cost, but the disadvantage is that it gives people the feeling of repetition. The large sleeves of this figurine are obviously influenced by the culture of the Southern Dynasty
