The chicken head pot is a common shape in porcelain from the Three Kingdoms to the Sui Dynasty, but the chicken head pot of each period has its own characteristics. In general, with the evolution of the times, the shape of the chicken head pot has developed from short and fat to thin and tall. Compared with the three kingdoms and the Western Jin Dynasty, the mouth of the chicken head on the Eastern Jin Dynasty chicken head pot changed from the sharp mouth of the three kingdoms and the Western Jin Dynasty to a round hole shape, and the chicken head also changed from the three kingdoms and the Western Jin Dynasty to the neck standing close to the shoulder of the pot. In the Three Kingdoms and the Western Jin Dynasty, the chicken tail close to the shoulder of the chicken head pot turned into a crank on the Eastern Jin chicken head pot. In terms of decoration, the popular practice of printing patterns on pots in the Three Kingdoms and Western Jin Dynasty has basically disappeared, and replaced it with simple carving of string patterns
This blue-glazed chicken head pot has a regular shape, simple decoration, elegant glaze color and simple and natural glaze. It can be called the representative of the blue-glazed chicken head pot of the Eastern Jin Dynasty
