[Blue glaze brown spot four-series pot]

Blue glaze brown spot four-series pot, Eastern Jin Dynasty, 17.9 cm high, 8.4 cm diameter, 8.7 cm bottom diameter
The pot has a coiled mouth, a thin neck, a slip shoulder, four series on the shoulder, a round belly, and a flat bottom. Several strings are carved on the shoulder. The whole body is painted with blue glaze, and the rim and shoulder are painted with brown stripes. This ware can be regarded as a typical one among the celadon glaze and brown spot porcelain of the Eastern Jin Dynasty
The decorative technique of painting brown spots on celadon began to appear in the late Western Jin Dynasty, and became popular in the Eastern Jin Dynasty. It is made by using a kind of “purple gold earth” with more iron to paint on the blue glaze, and then firing it. It belongs to the low-temperature glaze color that is fired at one time. These brown spots are arranged randomly or have a certain regularity, which adds color to the monotonous blue glaze and has a good decorative effect.
