The inscription on the right side of the tablet is 9 lines of 157 characters, and the inscription on the lower left side is 5 lines of 41 characters. It is in official script. The inscription on the tablet is as powerful as the new inscription. It is one of the representative works of the Han Dynasty. The large piece of this tablet was found in the light of the Qing Dynasty. It was first returned to Duanfang and then to Zhou Jimu. The small piece was originally stored in Kechangsi, Shandong Province, and later was collected by Zhou Jimu. Wu Shijian was the first person to verify this monument. He believed that the Xixiang marquis in the inscription was Zhang Ji, the marquis of Wei Xixiang during the Three Kingdoms Period, so he named it “The Remnant Monument of the Marquis of Wei Xixiang”. Later Zhou Jimu, Yang Shuda and Yu Jiaxi denied this statement. Yang and Yu confirmed that the Xixiang marquis in the inscription was Zhang Jing during the reign of Emperor Huan of the Eastern Han Dynasty, so he named it “The Monument of Emperor Zhang of the Yangling of Han Chi”, which has been widely accepted.
