[Memorial Monument of Pei Cen, the Supreme Guard of Dunhuang]

Vertical: 27.1 cm, horizontal (half open): 15 cm. Donated by Yuno Xuecun, Japan, in 1995
This is the Qianlong Guichou Rubbings, with five parts in two and a half parts. It is collected by Huang Yi. The inscription and postscript are stamped with the “Small Penglai Pavilion”
The monument was erected in the second year of Han Yonghe (137). The inscription records Pei Cen, the governor of Dunhuang in the Han Dynasty. The style of the script is ancient Li, which is from seal script to Li, and is vigorous and spicy. Kang Youwei’s “Guangyi Boat and Double Boats” said: “The ancient Maoxiong is deep and has the meaning of Qin Dynasty.” The monument is now in the Museum of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region
Huang Yi’s bibliography of small Penglai Pavilion. Huang Yi wrote a postscript to this book: “This tablet is far away from the Great Wall, and the old origin is rare. Since the 22nd year of Qianlong’s reign, Duke Qiu Wenda took it back with a pad book according to his journey to the Western Regions. He begged for the public, and the soldiers and residents copied and shot at it, resulting in confusion of the fish’s eyes. The book passed down in the past is more than a wild goose tripod. The book was sent by Zhan of Weng Qinxi Palace. The book said that this is the pad book written by Duke Wen Da in the year of Ding Chou, which seems to have more evidence than the pad book in recent years. Because of the mounting of the book, it was hidden. It is too far away, and the pad hand is not good, so it is too thick and faint 。 I hate to be close to the tablet. “
