There are two lines and eight characters inscribed in the statue:
“0005” as the Jue Emperor
Kaobao Zun Yi
It can be seen that this statue is the sacrificial instrument made by “0005” for his dead father
The neck of this statue is decorated with a phoenix pattern, and the transition of the neck and shoulder is also a phoenix pattern around, on which a pair of embossed tiger heads are decorated. The upper abdomen is straight rib pattern (formerly called groove pattern), and the lower abdomen is still phoenix pattern. The whole utensil has three layers of phoenix pattern decoration from top to bottom
In the ritual vessels of the Zhou Dynasty, the phoenix pattern was widely used, and this decoration has distinctive characteristics of the times. During the period from Zhaowang to Gongwang in the middle of the Western Zhou Dynasty, there were a large number of phoenix patterns, which some scholars called the era of phoenix patterns. The corolla phoenix pattern on this bronze statue is a popular decoration in the Western Zhou Dynasty
