The burning Rongke ships attacked the French ships, but they were all defeated and sank. Although people who studied the Majiang Naval Battle focused on the more modern steam gun ships of Fujian Navy, many of the Qing troops who actually died in battle were from the Sanjiangkou Navy Flag Camp. More than 100 of the 600 officers and soldiers in the camp died, and many families and even all the men died in battle

Qinjiang Navy Flag Camp is the oldest known naval family village in China. Many of its descendants have entered the modern navy, and some of them have been passed down from generation to generation as many as nine generations

马尾三江口水师旗营，是清入关后第一批设立的四个满族水师营之一，也是福建最早的八旗水师。它比后来现代化运动福建船政局的福建水师还要早150年。

三江口水师旗营参加了1884年8月23日的中法马江海战，与闽安水师共同防守，并曾奉命驾驶燃烧的戎克船火攻法舰，但皆失败被击沉。研究马江海战的人虽然都把眼光放在较现代化的福建水师蒸汽砲船上，但实际阵亡的清军中有许多是三江口水师旗营的人，全营600名官兵中牺牲了100多位，许多家庭甚至全部男丁都阵亡而绝嗣。

琴江水师旗营是中国目前已知的传承最久远的海军世家村落，其后代许多子弟进入现代海军，并且世代传承有的达九代之多。
