In 1909, an old photo of Taiyuan, Shanxi, was sent by Zhang Bolun
American geologist Chamberlain and his son Rowling set off from Chicago on January 4, 1909, starting their journey to China, and arrived in Shanghai on February 2 of the same year. During their stay in China, Zhang Bolun and his son visited 13 provinces including Jiangsu, Guangdong, Guangxi, Hubei, Sichuan, Henan, Zhili and Shanxi by means of cruise, train, carriage, sedan chair and walking, and took more than 600 photos recording social life in the late Qing Dynasty
In May 1909, Zhang Bolin passed by Taiyuan and left behind a number of photos of Taiyuan at that time. It is really rare that we can still see the style and features of Taiyuan 110 years ago today
